5 Reasons Performance Fabrics are a Must-Have in Your Home

How many times have you had company come over, offered them red wine and immediately began to regret that decision. As you're removing the cork, your mind begins to wonder about the “what if's” of the wine situation. What if I knock the glass as I am handing it off and some of it gets on the sofa? What if my guest spills some on the chair, accidentally? What if a kid comes running into the room knocking into us and the wine spills? You start wondering why you even offered it, much less, serving the red stuff. You should have just offered white wine or a cocktail. Has that not happened to all of us at some point?

Instead, what if that sofa or chair you had in your living room had a beautiful Crypton fabric on it? The red wine that spilled would have beaded up and would never soak into the fabric. You could just go and grab a rag and clean up the spill. The same for sodas, grape juice, and the list could continue forever! Nothing soaks in so everything just wipes right up! 1. Upholstered Furniture

Use it on frequently used furniture. This can include sofas, chairs, kitchen stools, ottomans, window seats; EVERYWHERE! We do so much every day that it's hard to keep track. We don't want to worry about our kids, their friends, and our adult friends hanging out and damaging our home. It doesn't matter how many NO EATING AND DRINKING rules we have, someone always seem to break them. Having performance fabric on these pieces is great way to have a care free attitude and not worry. I can't say it enough!

2. Bedrooms

Carry the performance fabrics into your bedrooms. Performance fabrics have come a long way! They are beautiful and soft. They don't have to be plain and stiff to the touch. They can make a bedroom not only inviting, but also a worry free zone. For those sleepovers your kids have and are eating upstairs in the middle of the night, it won't matter if some food or drink ends up on their headboard, window treatments and/or chairs. It will clean up in the morning. Same for when your spouse finishes working out and gets on your bed in those sweaty clothes. It will clean up with a little soap and water.

3. Outdoor Furnishings

One of the most obvious spots for performance fabrics is outside. For a patio area or pool they are perfect. Most are fade resistance that can stand up to the sun and not lose their color. They also can handle getting wet in the rain or by a pool. Again, anywhere food or drink is involved, my go to is a performance fabric.

4. Playrooms

Playrooms are the designated zone for kids to make a mess. I know most of the time I just close the door so I don't have to look in that direction. Because they are typically a messy room, performance fabric is a logical choice for any furnishings you may have in the space. Performance fabrics come in all colors and lots of fun prints so you can still make the space kid friendly in looks and use.

5. Pets

Lastly, performance fabrics are great for homes with pets. They don't clean up hair, but they clean up any stains that dogs or cats leave behind. From tracking in dirt from outside to having a little “potty” accident, with performance fabric it will wash right up! You don't have to use dark fabric on that sofa because you’re worried the dirt will show. You can feel safe going with a lighter version knowing that whatever happens to get on those cute paws will clean, easily!
