Welcome to
Decks in Atlanta can be the ultimate luxury for our southern weather. It allows us to have a place to sit outside all year round. It’s even better when the deck is covered and becomes more of a porch.
Recently, we worked on a deck with clients as part of their whole home design plan. Here is how the decked looked when we started this project.
As you can see it was a basic deck, but had pretty rails. They decided as part of the plan to install a metal covering that opens and closes electronically. The covering allows them to open and close it depending on the weather. If it’s too hot, they can shade the sun, and for cooler weather, they can keep it open.
When discussing the plans for this home, it was important to the family to have a place to sit and hang out. They have a flat backyard for their kids and dog to play. They wanted to be able to sit on the deck and see what was happening below, as well as have a place to eat meals. They also needed a small amount of storage. As part of the initial presentation, we came up with this plan:
We made sure the main pieces of furniture were placed in such a way to make conversation easy as well as to be able to watch everyone playing in the backyard.
Here is how everything looks installed:
It turned out not only beautiful, but suits their needs perfectly. Stay tuned for more blogs coming soon about the other areas of the home we created.
